WALC is comprised of Wayne Athletes who are dedicating to make our athletic programs a success. All 10-12 grade students who participate in at least one sport, including cheerleading, are eligible to apply. Members who have completed the application process and have been accepted, are required to attend monthly meetings, complete off-season workouts, and participate in many other activities that give them the opportunity to improve and show-off their leadership skills.

WALC members visited the Iowa Hall of Pride to take part in the Pride Academy Leadership Program and tour the facility. The WALC members will be creating and exhibit for Wayne Community School to display at the Iowa Hall of Pride.
The new members were welcomed at the annual Kick-Off meeting. This year, members and their parents participated in an athletic scavenger hunt. Winners were Sarah Kelly and Katelyn Campbell (first); Dally Veach and MaryAnn Inthisan (second); Cole Christian and Dillon Lain (third).
An assembly was held for all Wayne Athletes on March 14th. During the assembly, WALC members presented a video and spoke about the events that were held during the year. 23 WALC members were presented certificates and pins for completing one year of the program. Seven members were given the Walkout Warrior Award for completing all required workouts for the year.
WALC sponsored an Elementary March Madness Basketball night for K-4th grade students. The group was responsible for all aspects of the event, including organization and promotion, coaching and officiating, admission, t-shirt sales, and operating the food stand. Proceeds from the event will help with WALC sponsored assemblies/speakers and projects.
The Wayne Athletic Leadership Council sponsored a pep rally for the boys basketball team as they traveled to the District Championship game. This included a comical game of 5-on-5 (teachers vs. basketball boys) and speeches from Senior Brent Banks and Coach Steve Hunt.
WALC sponsored a Tailgate Party at a home football game, which included free food, fun games, and Falcon Pride!
Members of WALC attended the Pursusing Victory with Honor Summit at the Iowa State University Campus. They heard from ISU athletic program coaches, as well as Joe Ehrmann, author of Inside Out Coaching, and Charlie Wittmack, World Tri founder.
At the WALC Kick Off Meeting, students competed in Minute to Win It Challenges, developed goals and mission
statements, and created a vision for the program.

include sportmanship, mental toughness, goal setting, and attitude.
